We donate carefully selected, high- quality picture books, novels, and nonfictions. We renovate library space to make them inviting. We
catalogue books and deploy digital library management system. We train teachers and students to be librarians. We promote book corners
in classrooms. We help teachers organize reading activities. We demonstrate within campuses and communities. Through such
comprehensive support, we ensure that libraries remain open regularly and books are used effectively so that reading in and out of the
classroom can become an integral part of student life.
VISIT LIBRARIESEach year, we recruit volunteers from both China and abroad. After four weeks of online training and three days of training camp,
volunteers travel in teams to library sites to work for about a month. While on the site, our volunteers open up libraries and implement
circulating practice that is suitable for the schools' specific conditions. They also work closely with teachers to design and run reading
activities and promote reading both in school and in the wider community. We also recruit volunteers in metropolitan areas to serve in
migrant communities, where they run regular reading activities for migrant children.
LEARN MORETeachers from our sites across China are annually invited for days of training in library and reading. During training, rural teachers work
together with domain experts and Dream Corps organizers to share experience and learn from each other. Besides introduction to small
library management and children's literature, much of the training is devoted to practical methods for providing guidance and support for
students in sustained silent reading, in reading aloud stories, etc. Through many immersive, hands-on sessions, teachers come to be
equipped with skills for organizing effective reading activities.
