In addition to library projects, Dream Corps volunteers collaborate with local primary and middle schools in organizing curricular and extracurricular activities through integrated usage of library resources. The goal of these programs is to make learning an enjoyable activity. Through involvement in a variety of educational programs, students experience the fun of learning, broaden their perspectives on learning, and develop motivation for self-guided learning.

    Reading Programs

Our reading programs emphasize the smooth integration of curricular and extracurricular learning by linking reading to discussion, articulation, and presentation. Dream Corps volunteers make use of diverse activities to help students learn in an interactive manner. We also actively promote learning in the local community by advocating the role of family involvement and parental interest in children's education. We make it clear that while motivated reading is not for the purpose of examinations, it could be the best aid in those endeavors. Ultimately, we work towards embracement of reading by the students as a basic skill for knowledge acquisition and moral growth.

    English Tutorials

Utilizing our volunteers' proficiency in English, we try to make English learning a dynamic activity through simple games, practical examples, and direct presentation so as to induce in the students a sense that that English learning could be enjoyable and English could serve as a useful window to the world. English tutorial programs also incorporate library resources, especially English reading materials and dicitonaries, to continually motivate students towards self-initiatives in English learning in a less than ideal environment.

    Cultural Activities

Dream Corps volunteers organize extracurricular activities such as dancing, drawing, games, sports and field trips to help students in their balanced personal development. In particular, through involving students in organization of these activities, we cultivate their leadership and communication skills, strengthen their self confidence, and enhance their sense of participation and achievement.

    Computer and English Training

Based on the needs of the school and the availability of volunteer expertise, we also conduct training in computer skills and English teaching for the school teachers at sites where the conditions allow.
